Selena Marie Gomez nasceu em Grand Prairie, no Texas. É filha do mexicano Ricardo Gomez e da italiana Mandy Teefy.
É uma actriz/cantora/ compositora norte-americana.
Apareceu pela primeira vez na televisão com o papel de Gianna, na série televisiva Barney e os seus amigos.
Foi descoberta pelo Disney Channel quando tinha 13 anos de idade.
Em Julho de 2007 apareceu na série Hannah Montana como Makayla, a rival de Hannah. O episódio foi tão bem aceite pelos espectadores que ela reaparceu na série em Outubro desse mesmo mês. Com o reaparcimento de Selena, ela gravou a música If A Cupid Had A Heart !
Também apareceu na série Zack & Cody: GÊmeos em Acção como Gwen, onde deu o seu primeiro beijo a Dylan Sprouse, que faz de Zack Martin na série.
Actualmente interpreta Alexx Russo na série do Disney Channel Wizards of Waverly Place que estreou em Outubro de 2007 na América e em 11 de Abril de 2008 no Brasil.
Também é cantora. Intreperta a música "Everything is Not What it Seems" para a abertura da série Wizards of Waverly Place, e uma versão da canção Cruella de Vil para o DVD platino dos 101 Dálmatas.
